Our Purpose:
|
As practicing and pre-service teachers, we developed this site in order to provide a location to share ideas and suggestions we have found effective with working with students with Autism within the British Columbia Education System. Although Autism is known for looking extremely different in each individual, the strategies found on this site are all supported by peer-reviewed research articles. Our hope is that our site might provide teachers with a bit of information about Autism, the spectrum of ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) and how to best assist these students in the classroom. As teachers who believe in inclusion as best practice, our suggestions, strategies and tools all work towards keeping students with Autism in the regular classroom and provide ways to accommodate and adapt for their complex learning needs. Although the strategies suggested may be effective for students with many different learning styles and needs-- we have tailored our research to techniques proven effective for students with ASD. We encourage and appreciate any feedback you may have for our site!
Sincerely, Crystal, Nain, Taylor, Tamara and Jessica |
